SIMS blog

Working on the SIMS blog….. Coming soon. Unfortunately taken a lot longer that I had hoped. Will be worth the wait I hope.

SIMS March release

Well the beta looks good, so long as Capita stick to the plan I should have it on the 20th (March 09). Hopefully before 5pm, with enough time to update our mirrorsite and check it out on my workstation. Then comes the fun of deploying it to 300+ schools.

Let’s hope our pre-release, release, post-release notes are good enough to warn the school of the coming release. What with the new homepage and the fact we’re highly likely to turn off Nova-T4 table creation and Attendance 6. Just wondering if I want to deploy the new SIMS infrastructure with it too… mmm maybe not, extra 500mb+.

Shame, got to love the new SIMSINST. Beautiful. Shame not everyone is using it. Give me time!!

FMSinst

Ooo…. the Nov FMS installable CD comes with FMSinst. Excellent, run fmsinst, sql native client etc all included. My kind of installer.

Now just need it on SOLUS.

Compression

Just been looking at Capita’s zip library. They use DynaZip, which was made by Inner Media, a Microsoft Partner, who has now since gone bust. Little documuntation on the internet, the people who made it appear to have since left Capita.

I found dzncore.dll within the MSSQL\BINN folder and dznet.dll within MSSQL\BINN\FMSSQL. Debugging dbattach doesn’t appear to have any reference to either of the DLLs. It appears it refers a execute within the SQL. I assume this then refers the DLL.

I can’t figure it out…
